There are the usual hunting and fishing shows… and then there is American Hero Outdoorsman!

A unique, genuinely heart felt program featuring real American Heroes, war veterans! Some having served recently in Iraq or Afghanistan, to those who served in Vietnam, Korea and even World War II.

Though these outdoorsman were physically injured in defense of our freedom, their passion for life in the great outdoors has not been diminished by their disabilities.

American Hero Outdoorsman features fascinating stories about their past service and heroics while discussing the enormous obstacles and physical limitations they have overcome. 

Working in combination with Walter Reed Hospital’s “Warriors In Transition” program and the Paralyzed Veterans of America…American Hero Outdoorsman is a 30-minute adventure dedicated to honoring these real American Heroes. 

Viewers will be first hand witnesses as these former soldiers overcome physical limitations using nothing but tremendous willpower and dogged determination; we’ll show their steadfast spirit and ultimately share their joy and pride as they fulfill what many considered an impossible dream.

This program allows viewers to witness uplifted spirits, displays of camaraderie and recognize innate courage.  We’ll celebrate weekly as those onscreen reveal unbridled joy to once again live the great outdoors lifestyle and personify the true American Hero Outdoorsman.

 

GUIDES

Weekly featured guides on the show will be experts drawn from all over the United States, AHO is proud to be associated with the BASS FISHING HALL OF FAME as well as other sports organizations, we're counting upon them to help keep us chock full of living legends to show our vets the proven, properand successful methods for each adventurous episode. 

The opportunitiy to combine outdoor lifestyle legends, some say Sports Heroes with real American Heroes was a combination we could not pass by; each show is sure to be filled with stories from the Pros that will make our Vet's participation experience all the more special tobe a part of and for the rest of us to watch.

HOST

Randall Hopkins

American Hero Outsdoorsman is hosted by Master Outdoorsman Randall Hopkins whose laid back, folksy interview style blends perfectly with our humble, modest and unassuming veterans. His ability to listen is what sets Randall apart from many other TV Show hosts who seem to be in love with the sound of their own voice, Randall's method is very simple and straightforward, ask the question and let the subject say as much or as little as required to share their experiences in the outdoors and on the battlefield. He knows that sometimes silence says so much and facial expressions can sometimes fill a book when a man is given the task of telling his story.

When it comes to hunting, fishing and living in the great outdoors Randall is at home anywhere, bow, rifle, shotgun, pistol, fly fishing, casting rod and reel or heading out to sea looking for the big fish.  He treats our veterans like old time buddies, finding a real kinship with those who also share a passion for the outdoors and the absence of cell phones, fax machines and the sounds of whizzing traffic.  Sometimes it's only in the peace and serenity of nature where a soul can unload one minute and reload the next.

PRODUCERS

American Hero Outdoors is produced by American Hero Outdoorsman Productions, LLC. in ssociation with Tandem Productions in Savannah, Georgia by Michael Shortt and Bob Nagengast.  The show was inspired by a short video showing an awards ceremony held after an organized PVA event held at the US Army's Townsend Range near Livonia, GA.

 

Michael Shortt
		Michael is the creative side of the team overseeing much of the production and creative aspects of American Hero Outsdoorsman.  He has over 35 years of theatrical experience from child actor and working comedian to producing feature films.   His movie credits include "Forrest Gump", :"Chasers", "A Perfect World", "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", "The Legend of Bagger Vance", "Love Shack", "Something to Talk About", and many others. Other television programs include: FOX's "America's Most Wanted" , Lifetime's "Great Hollywood Makeovers", Food Network's "Cooking with Bobby Flay", "In-Focus" on PBS, "The Comedy House", "Planning the Perfect Wedding" and "Talking Law TV".   He's also produced hundreds of commercials and music videos, working recently on John Mellencamp's "This is Our Country" DVD/Video and the related Chevy Truck Commercials. When not working, Michael is an avid outsdoorsman, beginner fly fisherman and self proclaimed "Gear head" who enjoys maintaining and driving classic cars and riding motorcycles.
Bob Nagengast
		For more than 25 years, the "Business" in Show Business is what has made Bob tick. Bob has planned, bought, sold, and created TV, radio, print, and Internet content and programming, During his tenure at ABC Network TV, he marketed many events including several Superbowls, The Indy 500, Kentucky Derby, Academy Awards, and the Olympics. He has been a key executive in creating and marketing two new media Internet ad companies: SmarTouch Media and Hiwire. American Hero Outdoorsman is one of those unique marketing opportunities that Bob embraced because it will bring positive uplifting stories to viewers about our Vets that have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
